On April 23, the Ningma Line, the first interprovincial urban rail line connecting Jiangsu and Anhui, officially entered initial operation. It is also China’s first regional railway jointly built, managed, and operated across provincial boundaries.

As a flagship project demonstrating transport integration within the Nanjing Metropolitan Area, the Ningma Line broke ground in both Ma’anshan and Nanjing in 2021. Running from Xishanqiao Station in Nanjing to Taibai Station in Ma’anshan, the line spans approximately 54.23 kilometers with 16 stations. Designed for a maximum operating speed of 120 km/h, the line enables a minimum end-to-end travel time of 37 minutes.

The trains, produced by CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Rolling Stock Co., Ltd., adopt an ATO + manual driving mode, offering a high level of automation. Redundant design is applied to both structural and electrical systems. A high motorization ratio and high-power traction motors ensure safe, high-frequency, all-weather service. Each train features large LCD dynamic route maps. The air conditioning system uses variable-frequency units and features cars with differentiated cooling levels. The lighting system automatically adjusts to ambient brightness, improving energy efficiency and visual comfort for passengers.
