Recently, the first 8-bar, 300 kW magnetic levitation centrifugal air compressor, independently developed by CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Co., Ltd., was successfully put into operation at a customer site in Hunan and has since maintained stable long-term operation. On-site test data show that the unit achieves an energy-saving rate of 31%, saving over RMB 700,000 in electricity costs per year.
Featuring high rotational speed, long service life, high reliability, and low noise, the air compressor boasts contactless magnetic levitation bearing technology for 100% oil-free compressed air supply, making it well-suited for industries that require extremely stringent air quality, such as precision electronics, semiconductors, and biopharmaceuticals. In addition to significantly improved energy efficiency, its maintenance cost is reduced by 60%.
Through repeated theoretical analyses, full-lifecycle digital simulations, bench tests, and design optimizations, the CRRC technical team ultimately broke through key technological bottlenecks. As a result, the motor speed was nearly doubled, the number of compression stages increased fourfold, and the discharge pressure improved tenfold. These breakthroughs demonstrate that CRRC has successfully extended its magnetic levitation technology from the blower sector into the air compressor market with higher pressure requirements and broader industrial applications.
