April 13 marked the 1st anniversary of the operation start of the China-Laos international passenger train. The train has transported 700,000 passengers accumulatively, including 180,000 cross-border passengers from 87 countries and regions. The train departure rate and arrival on-time rate reach 100% and 99% respectively, and the operation is safe, stable and orderly.
The China-Laos international passenger train adopts the “Fuxing” CR200J power-centralized EMU and “Lancang” EMU designed and manufactured by CRRC, with a maximum operating speed of 160km/h. Including customs clearance, it takes only about 9.5 hours from Kunming South Station to Vietiane by this train.
Over the past year, the China-Laos international passenger train has connected famous tourist cities like Kunming, Xishuangbanna, Luang Prabang and Vientiane, providing great convenience for international passengers to tour cultural relics and natural scenic spots along the line, and touring Laos and Yunnan by taking the EMU has become a new trend. The occupancy rate of the China-Laos international passenger train has maintained on a high level, with the maximum daily occupancy rate reaching 100%, driving the development of the tourism industry in cities like Xishuangbanna and Luang Prabang, and promoting cultural exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between China and Laos.
