As of March 4, 2024, local time, metro trains exported by CRRC Tangshan to Porto of Portugal had completed continuous and safe operation for 100 days, with total operating mileage of more than 240,000km, transporting over 2 million passengers, and were widely praised by residents of Porto.
Porto is the second largest city of Portugal. It has 6 metro lines with 81 stations, covering a total length of 67km, and serving Porto’s urban and suburban areas. On January 21, 2020, CRRC Tangshan and Metro do Porto signed a contract for Porto’s metro and maintenance, which became the first transaction of urban rail vehicles between China and EU countries. The new type of metro trains were jointly designed by CRRC Tangshan and Metro do Porto considering the operating environments and needs of metro in Porto. The train embodies design concepts of green, intelligence, comfort and safety, features lightweight, low energy consumption and intelligence, and is the new generation metro train that meets European standards.
