Recently, the first operational section of Guangzhou Metro Line 18, the fastest metro line for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, officially started operation. The train was jointly developed by CRRC ZELC and Guangzhou Metra Group.

The train comprises 8 Type D cars, with a maximum operational speed of 160km/h. It fully leverages the EMU and metro technology platform, features high level of speed, large passenger capacity, fast start and stop, and fast ride and surrender, and can support an operational mode combining “stopping at every station” and “directly reaching major stations”, satisfying the mobility needs of the metropolitan life circle. The train of Line 18 adopts a streamlined car body, and a “Bay Area Blue” as its dominant hue, which is complemented with golden coastlines. The design of the train incorporates the characteristics of Guangzhou Metro and the features of high-speed train, and the seats are arranged both horizontally and vertically, providing 20% extra passenger capacity compared with high-speed EMU.

Guangzhou Metro Line 18 is the first all-underground city express line with a speed of 160km/h in China. It is an important traffic corridor connecting the north and south of Guangzhou. More importantly, it can significantly alleviate the passenger flow pressure of Guangzhou Line 3, which is called the “King of Flow”.
