Recently, Santa Cruz, Bolivia ushered in a new chapter as President Luis Arce pressed the start button to inaugurate the self-generation power plant for the Mutún Steel Complex. This power plant, constructed by CRRC Ziyang, not only marks the first CRRC gas generator in South America, and also represents a significant step forward in Bolivia’s industrial modernization.
As the first capacity cooperation initiative between China and Bolivia, the Mutún Steel Complex elevates Bolivia’s steel production to a leading position in Latin America, while helping fulfilling the country's decades-long aspiration of having a fully self-supplied steel project. The 103MW self-generation power plant built by CRRC is the sole electricity source for the Mutún Steel Complex.
The power plant features 10 gas generator sets operating in an isolated grid mode, with an output voltage of 11kV and a frequency of 50Hz, ensuring continuous and stable energy supply for the steel mill.
As a leader in exporting China's internal combustion engine products, CRRC Ziyang has undertaken power plant and substation projects in over 20 countries including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Malaysia, providing reliable energy solutions to support the local economic growth and improve the living standards of local people, while showcasing to the world the potential of China's high-end equipment.
