Summary: This ballast hopper car is used for new line ballasting service as well as existing line maintenance, applicable to the Hong Kong KCRC or subway line. The car is mainly comprised of car body, unloading mechanism, watering device, bogie, brake equipment, coupler and draft gear, etc. The car body is of all steel welded structure. There are unloading outlets and doors on the both sides of car bottom. The ballast can be discharged through dual-action rotary of doors operated by pneumatic or manual control at inside/outside the track and the watering device is used for cleaning dust. The car adopts ZK3 bogie, KNORR air brake system with KERA type control valve, FSW type hand brake, 13 type bottom operation coupler and ST type draft gear.
