CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Research Institute Co., Ltd. (CRRC Zhuzhou Institute), formerly known as Zhuzhou Electrical Locomotive Research Institute affiliated to the Ministry of Railways, was established in 1959, and currently is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CRRC.
Comprised of 13 entities, the CRRC Zhuzhou Institute boasts 2 listed companies, 11 national platforms of scientific research and innovation, 3 corporate postdoctoral research centers, 5 overseas technology R&D centers, and 11 national specialized and special new “small giant” enterprises. CRRC Zhuzhou Institute has more than 10,000 R&D personnel, including 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, more than 270 PhD holders and over 5,000 master’s degree holders.
The CRRC Zhuzhou Institute has remained steadfast in its commitment to implementing national strategies, firmly upholding innovation-driven development, and extensively cultivating the transportation and energy sectors. It has successfully cultivated three core technologies — devices, algorithms, and materials — and established three major industrial clusters in rail transportation, clean energy, and automotive and industrial sectors. These endeavors are aimed at serving the advanced, intelligent, and sustainable development of China’s equipment manufacturing industry. Notably, the company has undergone comprehensive reform initiatives and has consistently been recognized as a benchmark enterprise in “Double Top 100 Companies” by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). As a result, its development vitality and momentum have continued to strengthen. With a revenue of 52.3 billion yuan and a tax contribution exceeding 6 billion yuan in 2023, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute has made remarkable strides in generating significant economic and social benefits.
