Alashankou, a key gateway in Xinjiang, presents a severe testing ground for railway operations, characterized by sub-zero temperatures and high-velocity winds. Here, CRRC Ziyang personnel have maintained a steadfast operational presence on the front line.

Serving as a strategic pivot for China-Central Asia railway logistics, Alashankou Port requires broad-gauge locomotives to undergo bogie replacement to align with overseas network standards. The company’s specialized conversion team is tasked with the critical refitting of these exports.

The operation involves navigating tight deadlines and complex technical workflows under extreme climatic conditions. He Min, a locomotive electrician, highlighted the physical demands: “Tools become ice-cold, requiring us to work without gloves despite the freezing temperatures. Numbness is managed with brief pauses, but the work continues immediately.” The team frequently endures nearly ten-hour shifts outdoors, often working with frost forming on their faces.

Throughout these operations, strict adherence to quality and safety protocols has been maintained. Supervisors provide continuous on-site oversight, ensuring that every phase—from hoisting and positioning to final commissioning—follows rigorous technical procedures.

Since April 2025, the team has successfully completed the bogie replacement for over 100 locomotives. Through professional execution and resilience, they have ensured a steady flow of rolling stock to Central Asia, demonstrating CRRC Ziyang’s commitment to delivering on its promises even in the most challenging environments.
