Standard New-Energy Locomotive Successfully Completes The On-site Operation Assessment

On December 9th, the China National Railway Product Quality Inspection and Testing Center organized a meeting to summarize the one-year operation assessment of the 1000kW hybrid locomotive "made by CRRC Ziyang", marking the successful completion of the on-site operation assessment for this type of locomotive.

Assessment data indicates that this type of locomotive has demonstrated excellent fuel economy, reliability and environmental benefits in the harsh operating environment of iron and steel enterprises.

Put into operation at Magang (Group) Holding Co., Ltd. on November 29th, 2024, the locomotive accumulated an operating mileage of 34,150 kilometers within 361 working days, equivalent to approximately one lap around the Earth's equator, with a total traction cargo volume of 8.8 million tons.

As a new energy locomotive with "diesel engine + battery" configuration, it boasts strong traction power. During the assessment period, it could basically replace the six-axle diesel locomotive DF7 for operations, and pure electric power was sufficient to meet the demand for most of the locomotive's operating time. Over the past year, the diesel engine has worked for only about 1,000 hours in total, less than 3 hours per day on average, and the battery was charged by the on-board diesel generator set.

Compared with traditional diesel locomotives under the same working conditions, this new energy locomotive achieves a comprehensive fuel saving rate of 40% when completing the same traction tasks, and noise, vibration, carbon emissions and pollutant emissions are all significantly reduced.

During the year-long high-intensity assessment period, the locomotive did not experience any mechanical failures, temporary repairs or safety accidents caused by quality issues, fully verifying the stability and reliability of the entire vehicle.

In the next step, CRRC Ziyang will disassemble the locomotive that has completed the on-site operation assessment in the presence of the China National Railway Product Quality Inspection and Testing Center and conduct in-depth analysis of relevant data to continuously optimize product performance.

This locomotive is one of the products on CRRC Ziyang's new energy locomotive platform. At present, the company has successfully built a new energy locomotive R&D platform centered on CN series standard new energy locomotives, HXN6 type hybrid locomotives, etc., including various power configurations such as "diesel engine + battery", " battery" and "hydrogen fuel cell". The power range covers 200kW to 3000kW, which can fully meet the green transportation needs in different scenarios.
