CRRC Ziyang rolls out new energy locomotives for export to Kazakhstan!

Source: DateTime: 2025-05-21

On May 20, the CKD6H locomotive, a new energy collaboration between CRRC and Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, officially rolled off the production line at CRRC Ziyang Co., Ltd. This marks a breakthrough in overseas exports for China's standardized new energy locomotive platform, serving as a key milestone for green rail transit equipment going global.

The CKD6H locomotive exported this time marks China's first overseas project for serialized new energy locomotives following the policy of replacing outdated diesel models. As a demonstration project by the National Railway Administration to advance high-quality development of new energy railway equipment under the new development paradigm, this standardized new energy locomotive series not only fills a gap in China's exports of such equipment, but also offers a "China solution" for green transportation development to Belt and Road countries.

The CKD6H locomotive, built on CRRC's standardized new energy platform, is specifically optimized for Central Asia's extreme cold climates. It features a hybrid "diesel engine + power battery" system, combining digitalization, intelligence, and eco-friendliness, with five core advantages: green technology, safety, intelligence, economy, and reliability. Equipped with an EU IIIA-compliant low-emission diesel engine and high-safety lithium iron phosphate batteries, it includes an intelligent diagnostic system, quadruple safety protection, and fast-charging technology, operating reliably in temperatures as low as -50. Compared to traditional diesel locomotives, its intelligent energy management system delivers over 45% fuel savings, 80% noise reduction, and 45-83% lower emissions. A single unit can reduce CO2 emissions by 240 tons annually, offering exceptional environmental benefits.

The locomotive will arrive in Kazakhstan in June, where EAC certification will be conducted based on China's new energy locomotive standards. This marks the first time China's new energy locomotive standards have been adopted internationally as certification criteria.

CRRC Ziyang has developed a comprehensive new energy product portfolio including hybrid, battery, and hydrogen fuel models, offering customized solutions ranging from 200kW to 3000kW to meet diverse customer needs.
