Recently, in the 12th China Technology Market Association "Golden Bridge Award" selection activity, the project Key Technologies and Applications of Ultra-high Power Battery System for Locomotive Traction submitted by CRRC Ziyang stood out after months of strict evaluation among nearly one thousand excellent projects across China and won the first prize of the highest award.

The Key Technologies and Application of Ultra-high Power Battery System for Locomotive Traction developed by CRRC Ziyang is a project to implement the national "double carbon" strategy and the strategy of building China into a strong transportation country, and meet the new demand of railway transportation for energy-saving and environment-friendly high-power diesel locomotives. Its main purpose is to deeply explore the innovative application of high-power batteries in rail transit industry, so as to promote the green transformation and efficient development of railway transportation.

After more than ten years of research and development, the project has successfully put forward the safety design method for power battery system in rail transit industry, built a safety design standard system, overcome the group technology of 1500V, 1100kWh and above high voltage ultra-large capacity power battery system, invented many core technologies such as hybrid power intelligent energy management and control technology, and developed the world's highest power hybrid locomotive. It has promoted the development of new energy locomotives and related industries.

According to statistics, the project has obtained 22 authorized invention patents, 45 utility model patents, 4 computer software copyrights, 6 technical standards as chief editor/co-editor, and published many scientific papers.

The project achievements have been widely used in China State Railway Group, local railways, metallurgy, petrochemical, coal and other fields. Compared with traditional diesel locomotives, the fuel consumption of hybrid power locomotives is reduced by 30% to 48%, pollutants are reduced by 35% to 80%, and noise impact time is reduced by more than 80%.
