On May 10 this year, the high-power narrow-gauge AC drive diesel locomotive "made by CRRC Ziyang" was successfully put into operation in Tonkolili, Sierra Leone.
This batch of locomotives is the first diesel locomotive with middle corridor arrangement and independent ventilation technology in the world. It adopts advanced AC drive technology and is equipped with China medium-speed diesel engines with a power of 3,680 kW, which can realize double-locomotive 10,000t heavy haul traction.
The high-power narrow-gauge AC drive diesel locomotives "made by CRRC Ziyang" have contributed to the leapfrog growth of Sierra Leone's iron ore traffic volume with excellent performance and efficient operation in just over a month.
Up to now, CRRC Ziyang has exported more than 1100 diesel locomotives to 34 countries around the world, accounting for more than 50% of China's total export of diesel locomotives. Among them, more than 200 locomotives of various types and more than 10 diesel multiple units have been provided to nearly 20 African countries, becoming an excellent representative of Chinese enterprises exporting railway equipment to Africa.
