There is a kind of friendship that grows stronger over time, and that is the friendship between Pakistan and China.
From August 29 to 30, a senior delegation of Pakistan Railways led by Mr. Salman Sadiq Shaikh, Additional General Manager /Mech. visited CRRC Ziyang to experience the new changes of the Company and write a new chapter in the annals of China-Pakistan friendship.
Mr. Salman Sadiq Shaikh is an "old friend" of CRRC Ziyang, who has witnessed the excellent performance of the Company's locomotives in Pakistan over the years.
In the eight years from 2014 to the present, the Company has successively provided 63 locomotives to the Pakistan Railways, which have undertaken important transportation tasks in Pakistan. They have not only creating more employment opportunities for local residents, but also significantly changing the operation condition of local railway locomotives; for example, the total railway operation revenue has increased at an average annual rate of 30.5%; the passenger and freight punctuality rate has increased from 42% to 77% .
This is a model project of the Company to actively build the Belt and Road and benefit the people of Pakistan.
In August this year, the Company and Pakistan Railways jointly held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 63 Units of Locomotives Maintenance Project, marking that the cooperation has entered a new stage. Representative of the Pakistan Railways said, ‘The locomotive maintenance task has been completed strictly as required in the current month!’ The Company’s efficient and high-quality maintenance services were fully recognized.
From providing locomotives to exporting technology to maintenance services, the Company has been continuously expanding and deepening the cooperation with Pakistan Railway in the past eight years.
This is also an important reason why Mr. Salman Sadiq Shaikh overcame the impact of COVID-19 to lead a special visit to Ziyang.

Mr. Chen Zhixin said, ‘The visit is a vivid reflection of China-Pakistan friendship. We hope that the delegation will have an in-depth understanding of the new changes. The Company will do the best to continue to provide satisfactory locomotive products and services; deepen exchanges and cooperation; promote mutually beneficial and win-win development.’
Mr. Salman Sadiq Shaikh remarked that CRRC Ziyang was an important export base for diesel locomotives in China and had provided locomotive products and services to many countries around the world. The Company’s locomotives put into operation in Pakistan are in good running condition and have more economical fuel consumption. The maintenance project, which is currently underway, is also progressing well. All the teams are very professional. Both parties look forward to new cooperation in the future!
Later, accompanied by Mr. Zhou Li, Vice General Manager, the delegation visited the production lines for engine, crankshaft, locomotive final assembly, steel structure and electric locomotive, etc.
The delegation praised the Company's technological innovation ability and manufacturing strength, and spoke highly of the new products successfully developed.
‘We saw awesome quality locomotives at the site, the Company has not only introduced new technologies and process, but has also improved the manufacturing level a lot.’ Salman said after the visit, ‘We are particularly impressed by the HNX6 hybrid locomotive, which is an eco-friendly locomotive with world-leading technology and represents new energy locomotive technology in China.’
