CRRC Zhuzhou Institute Supports Grid-Connection of China's Largest User-Side Grid-Forming Energy Storage Project

Recently, the "Wind-Solar-Storage" green low-carbon energy medium supply project, invested and constructed by Citic Pacific Energy's subsidiary Sunwise Times for Jingjiang Special Steel Co., Ltd., has achieved successful grid connection. As the turnkey supplier of the project's 120MW/240MWh grid-forming high-voltage direct-coupled energy storage system, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute leveraged its rail-transit-grade grid-forming converter technology and system integration expertise to support Jingjiang Special Steel in establishing the nation's first near-zero carbon steelmaking demonstration plant. This milestone provides a replicable model for the intelligent and green decarbonization transition of the steel industry.

As of September 2025, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute's cumulative grid-connected capacity of grid-forming energy storage systems has reached 3GWh, with a projected awarded capacity of 5GWh.
