Big Win for Global Rail Transit: 3 FAO (Fully Automatic Operation) International Standards We Co-Led Officially Take Effect!

In 2025, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) officially released the international standard in the fully automatic operation (FAO) field of rail transit – IEC 62290-1~3:2025, Rail Transit - Urban Rail Transit Management and Command/Control System. Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric Co., Ltd., a first-tier subsidiary of CRRC Zhuzhou Institute was a core member in the development of this series of standards. The official entry into force of this international standard marks another new breakthrough for the company in the internationalization of rail transit signaling standards.

The IEC 62290:2025 series standards are core international standards in the FAO field of rail transit. As the international standard for the Urban Rail Transit Management and Command/Control System (UGTMS), they represent the latest technical requirements in the field of rail transit automation and control.

Recently, the company also participated in the development of IEC 63536:2025, Rail Transit - Urban Rail Transit Signaling and Control Systems for Non-UGTMS. This is the first international standard in the rail transit signaling technology field under IEC that is led by China. Complementing each other with IEC 62290-1~3:2025, this standard further improves the IEC international standard system. The successful release of this standard marks a further enhancement of China's discourse power in the formulation of international rail transit standards and fills the gap in international standards for urban rail transit signaling systems.
