Recently, TMT's self-developed TMT 118AA onshore wind turbine blade was successfully rolled off the production line in Yancheng, Jiangsu. This blade, measuring 118 meters in length with a sweeping area of 45,000 square meters (equivalent to the size of six football fields), is currently the longest and highest power-rated onshore wind turbine blade produced by TMT.
The blade is designed to be paired with a 12.5MW turbine. When the turbine is operating at full capacity for one hour, it can power an average electric vehicle for over 90,000 kilometers. With an average annual wind speed of 7.5 m/s, each unit can generate approximately 38 million kWh of electricity per year, which is equivalent to saving 15,000 tons of standard coal, reducing CO2 emissions by 36,000 tons, and planting around 9 million trees. This will have a significant positive impact on environmental protection and addressing climate change.
To meet the efficiency, low-load, and lightweight operational requirements of ultra-large wind turbine blades, TMT's new blade features a carbon fiber main beam structure and uses a pultrusion-vacuum infusion combined molding process. This not only effectively reduces the overall weight of the blade but also significantly enhances its stiffness.
In terms of structural design, TMT has adopted a new verification method, based on international standards such as GL2015 and IEC, to thoroughly study various potential failure modes, including fiber failure, inter-fiber failure, and buckling failure. This ensures the blade's high reliability and safety over its lifecycle, providing a solid guarantee for stable wind farm operations.
For harsh "sand-gobi" environments, which are characterized by sandy soil, wind erosion, and strong ultraviolet radiation, TMT's R&D team has developed high-performance leading-edge protection materials tailored to the blade's aerodynamic profile. These materials greatly enhance the blade's resistance to environmental erosion, extending its service life and operational period.
As a subsidiary of CRRC, one of China's major state-owned enterprises, TMT is one of the few domestic wind turbine blade manufacturers with an independent R&D system. With a cumulative blade shipment of over 80GW, TMT has made significant achievements in large-size composite material wind turbine blade design and manufacturing, carbon fiber composite wind turbine blade design and preparation, and large-scale wind turbine blade digital manufacturing. To accelerate the development of large megawatt wind turbines, TMT adheres to lightweight design principles, continuously strengthens technological innovations, and ensures high reliability in blade operations, contributing to the high-quality development of the clean energy industry with CRRC's wind power expertise.
