On the morning of September 15, China's first metro with axle box built-in bogie, jointly developed by CRRC ZELC and Ningbo Rail Transit Group, was officially put into operation. This train represents a major breakthrough in China's urban rail transit manufacturing sector and has historic significance for safety, sustainability, and efficiency of urban rail transportation.
In August 2023, this train is unveiled at CRRC Ningbo Rail Transit Equipment Co., Ltd. Subsequently, the train was transported to Ningbo Depot for application research.
After over a year of trial operation, this metro has accumulated a mileage exceeding 16,000 kilometers. Test results show significant improvements in dynamic performance compared to conventional metro trains with external axle box bogies on the same line. The train has excellent ride comfort, superior traction and braking capabilities, reduces energy consumption and noise levels. Service life for critical components is longer and parts are compatible with depot maintenance equipment.
Through 15 years of innovation and dedicated collaboration, CRRC ZELC and Ningbo Rail Transit Group jointly witnessed and promoted the urban rail transportation.
