From July 18, an additional pair of international passenger trains will operate between Kunming and Vientiane on the China-Laos Railway. The newly launched trains, operated by Fuxing power-centralized EMU developed by CRRC, will run daily in both directions. This brings the daily number of international passenger trains between Kunming and Vientiane to four, providing travelers with more options.
The two trains adopt a 9-car configuration with a maximum operating speed of 160 km/h and a seating capacity of 720 passengers. They are respectively co-developed by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. and CRRC Dalian Co., Ltd., as well as CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co., Ltd. and CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd.
Since its launch on April 13, 2023, the China-Laos Railway international passenger train has rapidly emerged as a premier choice for cross-border travel, thanks to its efficiency, comfort, and cost-effectiveness. As of July 15 this year, it has transported 540,000 cross-border passengers from 115 countries and regions, significantly facilitating international travel for tourism, education, business, and more.
