On June 29, the opening ceremony for Guangzhou Metro Line 10 and Line 12 was held at Guangzhou Gymnasium Station of Line 12. The metro trains developed by CRRC ELC officially entered into service, with nearly 200 representatives of construction workers and citizens experiencing the inaugural ride of Line 12.
Guangzhou Metro Line 10 (Yangji East to Xilang) and the eastern (Ersha Island to University Town South) and western (Xunfenggang to Guangzhou Gymnasium) sections of Line 12 have officially commenced initial operation. This expansion brings Guangzhou's total metro network length to 751.1 kilometers and the total rail transit mileage in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) exceeds 1,100 kilometers. More residents will enjoy the "convenience of rail-based living", with richer travel options available.
Line 10 and Line 12 form an "X-shaped" diagonal axis in Guangzhou’s urban rail transit network, connecting multiple administrative districts including Yuexiu, Liwan, Tianhe, and Baiyun. They further strengthen economic ties between Guangzhou’s central urban area and its peripheral zones, providing the high-level support for the 15th National Games and the National Paralympic Games.
