Governor Takes Test Rides! Monterrey’s “World Cup Line” Launches First Trains

      On April 22 (local time in Mexico), the first three MM-25 light rail trains developed by CRRC ZELC for Monterrey Light Rail Line 1 were officially put into operation. The trains entering service is bound to improve the transport capacity and service quality of Line 1 in the Monterrey metropolitan area's rail transit system, providing strong support for the city's transportation during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

  Samuel García, Governor of Nuevo León, emphasized that the launch of the light rail marks a pivotal advancement in modernizing the state's transportation network, fundamentally elevating residents' commuting experience. The train upgrade  holds profound significance for Monterrey's preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as it will substantially enhance station capacity and showcase the city's open, modern image to the world.

  Monterrey Light Rail Line 1, a key route spanning 19 kilometers with 20 stations that connects Guadalupe to the city center, has achieved a significant leap in operational efficiency, service quality and residents commuting with the trains entering service.
