On April 11, CRRC Corporation Limited was named a “China ESG Model Enterprise” at the 2026 China ESG Awards Ceremony, organized by China Media Group and broadcast on its financial channel. The company was recognized for its outstanding performance in green and low-carbon development, technological innovation, social responsibility, and corporate governance. Party Secretary and Chairman Sun Yongcai attended the event and gave an on-site interview.

Held under the theme “Leading with Responsibility, responding to the Times,” the ceremony highlighted China’s broader push to accelerate comprehensive green transformation and advance ecological development. Leading enterprises across sectors-including energy, finance, manufacturing, agriculture, and technology-were featured for their ESG practices. CRRC was among seven companies honored, alongside Sinopec, China Minmetals China Post Group, Agricultural Bank of China, Muyuan Foodstuff, and Foshan Haitian Flavouring & Food Co.

During the event, Sun Yongcai shared a commemorative artwork created by an Indonesian student and railway enthusiast to mark the first anniversary of the safe and reliable operation of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway. Locally known as “Whoosh,” the railway has become a symbol of speed, trust, and growing public appreciation.

Sun highlighted that the project integrates low-carbon materials, energy-saving technologies, green construction practices, and intelligent systems. He noted that CRRC has built an end-to-end industry chain innovation and an ESG governance framework covering the entire product lifecycle, transforming high-speed rail from a symbol of “China speed” into a global example of green ESG development. “Our goal is to make every train a green ambassador connecting the world,” he said.

The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway has also fostered strong cultural resonance in Indonesia, inspiring local communities to create artwork, music, and content around the railway.

At the ceremony, Indonesian rail enthusiast Akbar joined CRRC employees to perform the song No Longer Distant, utilizing the melody of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway crossing mountains and seas to interpret an ESG narrative of people-to-people connectivity.

The ceremony featured a dedicated "Souvenirs of the Land" token display and a "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains" lighting ritual. These segments symbolize the enterprise’s integration of ESG principles into its developmental foundations, cultivating the vitality and vigor necessary for sustainable development.

In recent years, ESGencompassing environmental, social, and governance dimensions-has become a globally recognized framework for evaluating corporate sustainability and social responsibility. The China ESG Awards, jointly supported by national institutions and research organizations, aim to establish ESG evaluation standards aligned with international practices while reflecting China’s specific context.
