As Typhoon “Khanun” (designated Typhoon No. 8) made landfall in Zhejiang and Shanghai on July 30, CRRC’s freight rail projects activated comprehensive emergency protocols to safeguard public travel and ensure metro operation safety. Multiple sites implemented preemptive measures, with the Shanghai Songjiang Tram Project and Wuxi S1 Line demonstrating robust risk management and emergency response.
The Shanghai Songjiang Tram Project promptly launched its typhoon and flood emergency response plan. Teams conducted thorough inspections and reinforcements across all infrastructure, including overhead lines, tracks, signal systems, drainage facilities, and electrical substations. Critical supplies such as sandbags, water barriers, and backup power were pre-positioned, and operational plans were dynamically adjusted based on weather conditions. Emergency teams remained on 24-hour standby, with real-time communication channels prepared to keep passengers informed.
The Wuxi S1 Line also responded rapidly, implementing a high-frequency inspection protocol. Over 130 staff were mobilized for 160 site inspections across key risk areas, including low-lying stations, power supply points, and ventilation shafts. More than 4,200 sandbags and 50+ portable pumps were deployed, ensuring flood prevention systems were in place. Despite intense rainfall, operations remained uninterrupted, with no station closures or service delays.
These coordinated efforts across CRRC’s urban rail projects reflected the company’s strong emergency preparedness, infrastructure resilience, and commitment to ensuring public safety and uninterrupted service during extreme weather events.
