The results of the 2024 Machinery Industry Science and Technology Progress Award, the highest honor in China’s machinery sector, have been announced. The project titled “Development and Application of Green Welding Key Technologies for the Next Generation of Rail Vehicles,” led by CRRC Tangshan Company, has been awarded the second prize.

This key technology has achieved a 70% overall reduction in energy consumption for welded components, an 80% reduction in welding material costs, and a 20% shortening of the product manufacturing cycle. It has significantly reduced energy consumption and environmental pollution in the rail vehicle manufacturing process, effectively driving CRRC Tangshan Company’s transformation and upgrade toward green manufacturing.
The Machinery Industry Science and Technology Progress Award, the highest honor in China’s machinery sector, originated from the Ministry of Machinery Industry’s Science and Technology Progress Award and is officially recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. It also holds a recommendation quota for the national Science and Technology Progress Award. The award was jointly established by the China Machinery Industry Federation and the China Mechanical Engineering Society.
