HXN5B high-power AC transmission diesel shunting locomotive is suitable for marshalling, shunting and transfer operations in large and medium sized marshalling yards. The locomotive of this type is honored as “energy saving, environment friendly” locomotive with premium quality. Currently, it is the principal shunting locomotive operated in large and medium sized marshalling yards of national railway.
Energy saving and environment friendly: the locomotive is equipped with 12V280ZJ diesel engine with independent intellectual property rights, EFI system, and VTG with high-pressure ratio, Tier II emission level. The locomotive has taken some energy saving measures such as rotating speed of blower controlled by temperature to lower the oil consumption.
High performance: the locomotive has fuel tank capacity of 8500L, which can improve the endurance of its operation, and wheels with wheel diameter of 1250mm, it meets the needs of the hump operation in full life cycle.
Driver’s cab with good environment: noise-reduction materials are used for driver’s cab, the noise level of driver’s cab measured in type test is much lower than the stipulated noise level of 78dB. Electric horns and stroboscopic lights and whistle limiting device equipped on locomotive which can effectively reduce the noise pollution.
Safety and reliability: this locomotive utilizes advanced technologies such as axle controlled high power AC traction system with IGBT module, web-distributed real time micro-computer controlled system, remote fault diagnosis system, central ventilation system and bogie with single pulling rod on the axle box. 6A monitoring system is equipped for running safety.
Low maintenance cost: Most of the components of R12V280ZJ diesel engine are homemade which are interchangeable with the ones of 280 series of diesel locomotive, the cost of inspection and maintenance in full life cycle is low.
