HXN5 diesel locomotive, manufactured under the cooperation by CSR Qishuyan Locomotive Co., Ltd. and General Electric Company, is a heavy-haul 6000hp class diesel locomotive for mainline freight transport. The locomotive is equipped with Type GEVO 16 diesel engine. Individual axle control type AC transmission technology is adopted. High-power IGBT inverters are utilized. The locomotive, capable of triple heading, can be operated by single driver.
The locomotive adopts modularization design with AESS control system, excellent at dynamic performance and brake performance with quick startup and acceleration as well as automatic control of engine on-and-off, competent at anti-idle and anti-slip performance, and convenient for inspection and maintenance. The locomotive adopts invented double mode cooling system as preferred emmision and preferred consumption.
