HXN5 Locomotive (with double driver’s cabs) is a mainline freight diesel locomotive with AC transmission. The locomotive is fitted with GEVO 16 diesel with rated power of 4660kw. It is of AC electrical transmission and control system, double driver’s cabs, under-frame load bearing structure with outer corridor;the bogie adopts three independently driven axles; the traction motors use rolling bearing to hang on those axes in same orientation; Traditional pedestal axle box positioning, welded bogie frame and center-pin traction are utilized. The locomotive is fitted with rotary screw air compressor, CCBⅡelectro-pneumatic brake system.. The rated power (the input power of main alternator) of the locomotive reaches 4400kw, the maximum starting tractive effort is 620kN, the continuous tractive effort is 565kN, and the maximum running speed and maximum constant power speed is 120kn/h. Triple locomotives multiple-unit operation can be realized for this locomotive whose axle load is 25t.
Axle control type AC transmission technology and high-power IGBT inverter are utilized on the HXN5 Locomotive(with double driver’s cabs).
